Men’s Guide To Matching Belts With Your Threads

When it comes to putting an outfit together, it is often the little things that make all the difference. When wearing your outfit with a belt it is very important to get it right. Belts are used to hold your trousers up, but why not make a statement with your choice of belt.
There are so many different types of belts. From black and brown leathers to buckles with bright colours, so I have put this together this guide to help you pick the best man’s belt.

How To Wear A Belt

You may think that wearing a belt is really that simple, but you are sadly mistaken. There is a lot to think about when choosing a belt with what you are wearing.

The most important part is to ask yourself, does this belt match my shoes. Usually, a brown belt matches brown shoes, a black belt matches black shoes. If you opt for a novelty belt or decide to be more outlandish with your colour choice, you could continue the theme and opt for a pair of funky trainers.  With that said, going for neutral tones for the rest of your outfit will ensure there’s no chance of clashing colours.

Men’s Casual Belts

A casual belt is the best belt to have. It will see you through the year and will blend well with most anything you wear. A medium sized belt or a thicker sized belt looks great with casual clothing, chinos and smart shorts.

Thinner belts work well with skinny jeans and thicker belt’s look good with loose cut jeans and casual trousers.

Mens Canvas Belts

Canvas belts look awesome with a pair of quirky trainers, depending on the colour you want to go for. Men’s canvas belts work really well with both chinos and jeans, especially in the summer along with the summer holidays.

Men’s Belts For Jeans

Wearing a belt with jeans I think is really important as it breaks your body in half and choosing the right thickness of a belt can either make you look taller or smaller. Matching the belt with your trousers makes your legs look longer, which then makes you look taller.

Matching Belts With Shoes

Brown Shoes, Brown Belt

This is a great colour to choose when you are already wearing far to much black. Wear a brown belt and brown shoes to go with your black suit. This will add some extra detail to your usual simple look.

Another great tip would be to match a navy suit with a brown belt and shoes. This helps the colours bounce off against each other and creates a great summer outfit. You can do so much with a pair of brown shoes and brown belt.

Remember to:

  • Match your belt with your shoes
  • Make sure that you buy the correct sized belt
  • Black and brown belts are a nice simple colour to choose with your outfit
  • Make sure you choose the right belt thickness
  • Treat your belt as an accessory
